Why the press keeps calling
Adult acne keeps showing up in mainstream press for one reason.
So many clients are looking in the mirror at 32, 38, 41 and wondering why their skin is doing something it never did in their 20s. And the answers they're getting from doctors keep falling short.
Reporters reach out because they're hearing the same thing from their readers. Something isn't adding up.
What clients have been told
"It's just hormones."
"It's stress."
"Try this prescription."
If you've heard one of those and quietly thought there has to be more to it, you're not imagining things.
The questions Katie gets asked most
What does gut health actually have to do with adult acne?
A lot. The gut helps regulate inflammation, clear used hormones, and absorb the minerals your skin depends on. When it's out of balance, those effects often surface as breakouts, which is why so many clients see their skin shift once the gut is addressed rather than just the surface.
Why doesn't birth control fix hormonal acne the way doctors promised?
Birth control can mask hormonal acne by overriding your own hormones, but it doesn't address why they were imbalanced to begin with. That's why breakouts so often come back, sometimes stronger, once someone stops taking it. Katie's work focuses on the underlying hormonal pattern instead of covering it up.
What do dermatologists miss when they only look at the surface?
Dermatology is excellent at the surface, with prescriptions, topicals, and procedures. What a 10-minute appointment rarely has room for is the gut, hormone, liver, and nutrient picture underneath. Katie reads acne as a whole-body signal, which is the part that usually gets left out.
How is nutrition for clear skin different from “just eating better”?
“Eating better” is vague and rarely targets the actual driver of breakouts. Acne nutrition is specific. It maps your food to your individual gut and hormone patterns, removes what's quietly fueling inflammation, and adds what your skin actually needs. It's a strategy, not a generic clean-eating plan.
Katie's quoted in Glamour, OK!, Life & Style, and Evie from a functional nutrition lens. Not to throw conventional care under the bus, but to fill in the parts that get left out of a 10-minute appointment.
The Story
"Acne is a whole-body story. These publications and podcasts gave me the space to tell it."
