Maple Walnut Apple Crisp (Paleo + Vegan)
A healthy version of a classic recipe, this apple crisp is full of flavour with warming spices, dark maple syrup and crunchy walnuts.

Ingredients
For the filling:

large honey crisp apples; peeled
cored and cut in 1” chunks

coconut sugar

arrowroot starch

lemon juice

For the topping:

cup
almond flour
1
cup
crushed walnuts

cup
maple syrup

vanilla

coconut oil
room temperature

ginger

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 13” x 9” casserole dish with coconut oil. Set aside.
Add all the ingredients for the filling to a large bowl. Gently mix until the apples are well coated.
Pour apple mixture into the greased casserole dish.
In the same bowl, add all the ingredients for the topping. Mix until crumbly.
Crumble the topping over the apple mixture.
Place in the oven and bake for 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a nut-free version, tigernut flour can be used in place of the almond flour and shredded coconut in place of the walnuts.
